From improving economic performance and creating jobs to fostering strong education and fighting international tax evasion, we provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best-practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard-setting.</p><p><strong>DIRECTORATE FOR COMMUNICATIONS</strong></p><p>Within this Directorate, the mission of the <strong>Media, Social Media & External Engagement Division </strong>is to amplify to policy audiences and the public the Organisation’s key priorities as defined in the Strategic Orientations of the Secretary-General and in the annual communications plan discussed in the Council. Specifically, the division will work with communicators across the Organisation (ONE communications function) to:</p><ul><li>Support OSG in communications<strong> </strong>by the Secretary-General;</li><li>Deliver the OECD’s data, analysis, and recommendations to policy and public audiences through strategic, targeted <strong>media and social media engagement and newsletters </strong>in close co-operation with the division on digital communications, web and publications and the communications impact, standards, and capacity building division;</li><li>Co-ordinate the Organisation’s <strong>corporate presence and reputation across</strong> these channels;</li><li>Co-ordinate the <strong>OECD Global Parliamentary Network</strong>, including by fostering directorates’ engagement with relevant legislators;</li><li>Co-ordinate key <strong>civil society relationships</strong> including with BIAC, TUAC, and youth in co-operation with directorates while informing, supporting, and reporting on directorates’ targeted outreach;</li><li>Define <strong>media, social media and external engagement policies, standards</strong>, and processes in co-ordination with the Division on impact, communications standards & capacity building.</li></ul><h3>Job Description</h3><p>COM is looking for <strong>a Senior Media Officer </strong>to work in the Media, Social Media, and External Engagement division, liaising closely with COM production and Communication impact unit as well as communications professionals in all OECD directorates and bodies.</p><p>The selected candidate will seek to generate strategic media coverage in the context of the OECD’s broader communications strategies. S/he will report to the Head of Unit for Media and Social Media.</p><p><strong>Main Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Play a constructive role in the transformation of the OECD communications function, contributing to an agile, collaborative, and supportive culture marked by positive interaction and accountability among colleagues;</li><li>Ensure good collaboration with other divisions of COM to ensure strategic alignment;</li><li>Maintain, expand, and leverage journalist networks to ensure accurate public perception and understanding of the OECD;</li><li>Serve as a member of an in-directorate work group focused on strategic planning for certain Organisational and directorate priorities, developing, proposing, and executing impact-focused media plans;</li><li>Contribute to the development of media-accessible messages based on the Organisation’s communications priorities;</li><li>Produce coherent materials to carry OECD messages to media and contribute to the production of related communications outputs including but not limited to social media;</li><li>Help to identify and mitigate Organisational risk related to media and participate in media crisis management as necessary;</li><li>Support media engagement by the Secretary-General including but not limited to press conferences, interviews, and event;</li><li>Keep abreast of and respond to changing communications trends, technologies, and practices in the media industry;</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><p><strong>Ideal Candidate Profile</strong></p><p>Academic Background</p><ul><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in journalism, mass communications, political science, or economics.</li></ul><p>Professional Background</p><ul><li>5-10 years’ recent experience in media and management;</li><li>Experience in related fields such as social media would be an asset;</li><li>3-5 years’ experience in a national or supranational government or international organization would be an asset;</li><li>Prior experience in the field of journalism is not required but may be an
