Job Description
The Senior Manager of Academic Success will report to the Dean of Student Affairs and will be primarily responsible for serving students under Ombuds Services, as an objective resource for the university, advocating for fairness. Ombuds Services reviews decisions made by the university for fairness and ensures policies and processes have been followed. The goal is to aid in the timely and impartial resolution of student complaints in a nonadversarial, nonlitigious manner.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate timely resolution of student complaints by researching concerns, examining policies, and working closely with university leadership, faculty and staff.
- Provide fairness determinations.
- Advise students on university policies and procedures and refer students to the appropriate university resource for resolving concerns.
- Provide support for resolving conflicts between students, faculty and staff.
- Serve as chair of the university’s Situational Intervention Team (SIT)
- Recommend policy and process improvements based on student complaint data and trends.
- Gather and analyze student complaint information needed by academic leadership and legal to support external complaint resolution.
- Consult with leadership, faculty and staff to provide advice and support on their complicated student concerns
Qualifications
- Earned master's in higher education, counseling or related field. Required
- Dispute resolution experience Required
- Experience working with confidential information. Required
- Experience with students in crisis Preferred
- Knowledge of university catalog and handbook policies Preferred
- Experience working as or with faculty Preferred
- Experience with Salesforce, Banner, Power BI and SharePoint Preferred
- Academic integrity and student conduct experience Preferred
- Experience using Turnitin or other plagiarism detection software. Preferred
- 5 years’ experience in higher education Required.
- 3 years project management experience Required.
- 3 years’ experience in distant learning Preferred
- Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment.
- Excellent communication, team participation, team building, and human relation skills.
- Self-starter demonstrating thoroughness and follow-up.
- Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds in a collaborative manner.
- Ability to creatively solve problems.
- Ability to manage data/information and use for decision making on a scalable basis.
- Ability to write effectively in both business and academic styles.
Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $80336.75 and $140851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
