Position: Fleet Asset Control Manager
Location: SLC, UT
Pay: $90,000 - $110,000 annually
Position Summary:
The Manager of Fleet Asset Control is responsible for the governance, tracking, recovery, and lifecycle management of all serialized fleet technology assets across the C.R. England fleet. This role ensures the accurate control of high value electronic systems and components—including cameras, telematics, tablets, transponders, cabling, and related devices—from initial purchase through installation, recovery, repair, redeployment, inventory storage, and final disposal.
This position plays a critical role in protecting company capital, reducing operational costs, preventing asset loss, and maintaining audit ready accountability for technological assets deployed across the C. R. England fleet of equipment.
Note: This position is not responsible for the purchase, turn In, or final disposal to the manufacture after use. This will be the responsibility of the Safety Department or the Equipment Department, respectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Asset Lifecycle Management
• Own the end to end lifecycle tracking of all serialized fleet technology assets from purchase to disposal, destruction, or sale.
• Ensure all applicable components are tracked by serial number at each stage of their lifecycle.
Fleet Technology Systems Covered
• Manage asset control for the following systems and all associated components:
◦ Lytx camera systems (cameras, processors, cabling, mounts, accessories)
◦ Platform Science systems, including tablets, docking stations, CVD modules, cabling, connectors, and peripherals
◦ Pre-Pass transponder systems and components
◦ Orbcomm trailer tracking device
Inventory & Parts Room Oversight
• Ensure all unused, removed, or recovered components are properly secured and placed into parts room inventory.
• Establish and enforce serialized inventory controls across all terminals and storage locations.
• Oversee audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation of serialized assets.
Recovery & Redeployment
• Ensure recovery of all salvageable assets from:
◦ Total loss units
◦ Accident damaged equipment
◦ Equipment sold or removed from the fleet
• Coordinate reassignment and redeployment of recovered assets into new or existing units.
RMA & Repair Tracking
• Manage all RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) processes, including:
◦ Shipment of serialized components to repair facilities
◦ Tracking repair status and turnaround time
◦ Verifying serial numbers upon return
◦ Ensuring proper return to inventory or redeployment
Vendor & Cross Functional Coordination
• Coordinate with technology vendors regarding repairs, replacements, warranty claims, and component failures.
• Work closely with Maintenance, Safety, Legal, Finance, IT, and Operations to enforce asset control standards.
Reporting & Cost Control
• Develop reporting that tracks asset utilization, recovery rates, reuse rates, inventory levels, and cost avoidance.
• Identify opportunities to reduce capital spend through asset recovery and reuse.
Policy & Process Development
• Develop and maintain SOPs governing asset tracking, recovery, inventory control, and disposal.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years of upper level parts room or inventory management experience, preferably within a commercial trucking environment.
• Proven experience managing high value serialized assets across multiple locations.
