Location: Washington, DC 

Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Hours:  Varied; Required across all shifts daily (8 AM-4 PM | 4 PM-12 AM |12 AM-8 AM); Some overtime may be required. Full-time and Part-Time positions are available.

Summary: The Brooks Program provides short-term housing services to families experiencing homelessness in the District. The building contains 50 units and is located in Northwest, DC. The program follows a Housing First model philosophy and utilizes best practices to ensure participants can transition from short-term family housing to independent housing within 90 days. The Shift Supervisor will ensure the smooth operation of each shift. The role will be the primary point of contact for DHS and DGS during the shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must have or be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR/AED certification that includes?a hands-on skills testing module.? Friendship Place will provide First Aid/CPR/AED training.
• Provides supervision and performance management of the Residential Aides to ensure each shift runs smoothly.
• Provides appropriate oversight of the short-term family housing site participants and enforces program policies.
• Provides an efficient and safe working environment for participants, employees, and visitors at the short-term family housing site. This includes ensuring spills are attended to and that universal precautions are utilized.
• Reviews, explains, and provides each family with a copy of the program rules during intake and reviews the rights and responsibilities with the residents.
• Process intakes according to the program’s rules, procedures, etc.
• Ensures a daily log is maintained to record all activities and information.
• Provides de-escalation services to the participants as needed and ensures the safety and well-being of all staff and residents, including contacting MPD, Mobile Crisis, and/or CHAMPS as necessary.
• Primary point of contact for DHS and DGS on building matters
• Ensures noise within the facility is kept to a minimum during the overnight shift.
• Ensures all staff remain awake and alert at all times
• Report any instances of pests to DGS
• Ensure the submittal of all Unusual Incident Reports (UIRs) in the appropriate time frame during each shift.
• Coordinates the delivery, storage, disposal, and distribution of meals.
• Build trusting relationships with participants and respond with empathy and flexibility to foster wellness, independence, and service delivery
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, supervision, and actively seek out professional development opportunities.
• Communicate professionally and clearly in all interactions—both written and verbal—to support seamless service delivery and collaboration
• Demonstrate integrity, cultural responsiveness, and mission alignment in a fast-paced, equity-driven environment
• Maintains compliance in all assigned mandatory training and background clearances.
• Provide supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness with serious mental illnesses, addictions, medical concerns, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the program and its participants.
