Job Description

The Director of Academic Support Services provides leadership to a team that plans and implements exceptional tutoring and disability services. All academic support services coordinated by the Director will work to increase retention and overall student success. Specific areas of supervision include the management of staff; all disability and tutoring services; implementing strategic initiatives; coordinating student tracking and all data management. In addition, the Director will design targeted academic support that increases course completion rates in developmental education and gatekeeper courses. The Director participates in a full range of coordinated retention efforts that develops the potential of learners and helps them overcome personal challenges to achieve academic success. All employees of Saint Paul College are responsible for promoting a culture that supports equity and inclusion in all forms as well as providing excellent customer service continuously to all internal and external contacts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of tutoring centers, including supplemental instruction.

  •  Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse identities and backgrounds of college students, staff, and faculty.

  •  Project management experience.

  • Knowledge of academic support and student support services.

  •  Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualification 

  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field.

  • Experience supporting an inclusive environment for multilingual students.

  • Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse identities and backgrounds of college students, staff, and faculty.

  •  3 years higher education experience, specifically an urban community college.

  • Teaching and/or supervisory experience
