You will balance the important daily work of keeping our databases running with exciting new projects, like moving our data systems from on-site servers to the Azure Cloud and Snowflake. You’ll be the expert we turn to for making sure our data is safe, organized, and ready for the future.
In this role, you will:
Keep things running: You will manage our databases every day, making sure they have enough space and are set up correctly for our team to use.
Lead our move to the cloud: You’ll help us redesign how we store data, shifting from older on-site setups to modern cloud technology like Azure, Google GCP and AWS.
Protect our data: You will design the plans for backing up information and making sure we can get it back quickly if something goes wrong.
Fix and improve: You’ll spend time finding bottlenecks that slow us down and fixing them so everything runs as fast as possible.
Draw the blueprints: Using data modeling tools, you will create the maps that show how all our different pieces of information fit together.
Help the team: You’ll be a mentor for other IT staff, helping them solve tricky coding problems or teaching them how to use new database tools.
Stay updated: You will keep our software safe by installing the latest updates and patches, and you’ll keep learning about new trends in tech
As a person, you are:
Service-minded: You believe in acting with integrity and making sure our work helps everyone in the community fairly.
A great communicator: You can take complicated technical ideas and explain them clearly to teammates and other departments.
A natural learner: You are curious and adapt quickly when technology changes.
A careful problem-solver: You don't just look for a quick fix; you look at the whole picture to find the best long-term solution.
A team player: You enjoy building relationships and working side-by-side with others to get the job done.
The Team:
You will be joining the IT Division within the Department of County Assets (DCA). Led by IT Manager Michelle Smith, our seasoned team focuses on providing the technical support that keeps the whole County moving.
