In This Role
As an ESG and Sustainability Data Manager, you will play a key role in advancing enterprise-wide sustainability initiatives by overseeing the management, quality, and governance of ESG-related data. You will work cross-functionally to support strategic sustainability goals and ensure readiness for audits and regulatory disclosures. This role offers the opportunity to drive meaningful impact through data while partnering closely with sustainability experts, data engineers, and program managers to develop actionable insights and improve ESG performance across the organization.
🔹 Responsibilities
- Oversee ESG data management and governance across the organization.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure sustainability-related data is accurate, secure, and audit-ready.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to increase ESG data maturity and readiness for regulatory reporting.
- Support performance tracking towards corporate sustainability commitments.
- Apply innovative data practices and conduct in-depth analysis to drive strategic insights and ESG outcomes.
- Collaborate with engineering, sustainability, and product teams to create and execute data management plans.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior staff and guide implementation of best practices.
- Communicate data project updates, risks, and insights to stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to enhance ESG data capabilities.
🔹 Required Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of experience working in sustainability, ESG data management, or a related field.
- Proven experience working with ESG and sustainability datasets and performing related data analysis.
- Strong proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Demonstrated experience with data governance, data quality frameworks, and audit processes.
- Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
🔹 Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Sustainability, Data Science, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as:
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Change Management certifications (e.g., Prosci)
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, CSRD).
- Experience contributing to enterprise-level ESG disclosures and compliance efforts.
- Understanding of cloud-based data platforms and ESG data architecture is a plus.
