SummaryThe Threshold Inspector is responsible for examining and evaluating buildings, structures and construction projects to ensure compliance with local, state and federal building codes, regulations and standards. The role will perform inspections at various stages of construction to verify that the materials, techniques, and workmanship meet the required thresholds for safety and quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting on-site inspections of buildings and construction projects at different phases of development
  • Evaluating structural components, materials, foundations and systems to ensure compliance with building codes and standards
  • Verifying that construction practices align with approved plans and specifications
  • Identifying and document deviations from regulations and recommending corrective actions
  • Maintaining detailed inspection records, including photographs, reports, and notes
  • Preparing comprehensive inspection reports outlining findings, observations, and recommendations
  • Communicating inspection results effectively to managers as necessary 
  • Staying updated with changes in building codes and regulations, ensuring compliance
  • Collaborating with engineers and other construction professionals to address compliance issues 
  • Providing guidance and support to junior inspectors and construction teams on compliance matters
  • Ensuring testing equipment used is functioning properly maintained as per policies 
  • Maintaining accurate and current inspection records
  • Exercising tact and courtesy when conducting inspections and dealing with clients
  • Drives to various job sites at locations locally and statewide following all driving laws
  • Attending department meetings and following safety procedures and policies
  • Working in varying shift schedules, including weekends and overnight shifts as needed
  • Travel within Florida as required
  • Complete daily time and labor reports promptly
  • Other duties may be assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)
  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
  • Licensure as a professional engineer or architect
  • Registration as a building inspector or general contractor
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in structural inspections, construction oversight, or related roles
  • Strong knowledge of Florida Building Code (FBC), ASTM, ACI, and other structural standards
  • Experience with reinforced concrete, steel structures, masonry, and wood framing inspections
  • Proficiency in inspection reporting software, AutoCAD, or similar tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve structural deficiencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder coor
