Job Description

As a Lead Engineer specializing in Fluid Management Systems for Fuel, DEF, and Washer Systems, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, design, and implementation of fluid management solutions. You will lead a team of engineers and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products. This role requires a deep understanding of fluid systems, regulations, and industry best practices.

You will be responsible for:

  • Lead the development and delivery of innovative fluid management solutions for Class 8 trucks, including but not limited to fuel systems, DEF systems, and washer systems.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring adherence to business targets, quality standards, delivery timelines, cost objectives, and sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Chassis Product Managers, to define requirements, conduct pre-studies, and develop system-level product roadmaps.
  • Conduct benchmarking activities, perform gap analysis, and rebalance requirements to ensure competitive and industry-leading solutions.
  • Drive robust concept selection and stable design releases by frontloading work and employing sound engineering principles.
  • Plan, track, and communicate the progress of product and project deliveries, ensuring timely completion within budgetary and quality constraints.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to team members, fostering their professional growth and technical expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable vehicle regulations such as FMVSS, FMCSR, EPA, CARB, and other relevant standards.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to integrate their contributions and ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of engineering design releases.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 8-12+ years of product development experience in transportation industry, preferably in truck development.
  • Extensive knowledge of Class 8 heavy duty trucks.
  • Basic CAD (PTC CREO preferred) experience is required. Working understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Expertise in design documentation and strong product data management experience.
  • Project management experience is a merit.
  • Ability to take initiatives to optimize the systems, processes, and methods.
  • Work with engineers and designers on site and development centers around the world including in Sweden, India, France, and Brazil.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment (such as certified product owner or scrum master) is a plus.
