Role Purpose
As a Senior Field Services Engineer supporting our client mine sites across regional NSW, your core responsibility is to deliver high‑quality IT support across a diverse and dynamic operational environment. You will be the trusted onsite representative of DXC, ensuring the stability and continuity of IT systems that underpin daily mining operations.
While IT support is the main focus, the role also requires a strong understanding of Operational Technology (OT) and the ability to provide support to OT teams on an as‑needed basis. Experience working around OT systems, control environments, and field equipment is highly desirable, as you will collaborate closely with Technical Teams who maintain critical production systems.
This is a drive‑between‑sites role (non‑FIFO), requiring regular travel between several mine locations within regional NSW.
Key Responsibilities:
Advanced Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide senior-level support across desktop, hardware, enterprise print management, software, network, and OT systems for multiple regional mine sites.
- Travel between mine locations to resolve incidents requiring onsite attendance.
- Conduct deep-dive troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and escalate in line with DXC processes and SLAs.
- Enter operational areas of mine sites to resolve issues that cannot be handled remotely.
- Support AV and collaboration systems across control rooms, meeting rooms, and technical spaces.
- Execute IMAC activities including imaging, deployment, configuration, lifecycle replacement, and optimisation.
Infrastructure & Operational Technology (OT) Support
- Provide first-response assistance for OT systems and interfaces when required.
- Work alongside Technical Teams who support production and control systems, providing IT-centric support at integration points between IT and OT.
- Assist OT teams during maintenance windows, outages, or peak operational periods.
- Perform basic diagnostics, connectivity checks, and safe handling of OT-related field equipment.
- Escalate OT issues appropriately while maintaining strong communication with engineers and technicians.
- Maintain familiarity with site OT landscapes to support effective collaboration, without acting as the primary OT engineer.
Stakeholder Engagement, Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate clearly with mine-site personnel, engineers, Technical Teams, and control room operators.
- Build strong working relationships across multiple mining sites and operational teams.
- Work closely with remote DXC teams to maintain consistent service delivery.
- Mentor junior or site-based technicians, offering guidance and technical leadership.
Operational Excellence, Logistics & Asset Management
- Manage IT storerooms, asset tracking, stock levels, and logistics across all supported sites.
- Safely handle and transport IT and OT equipment while travelling between locations.
- Maintain accurate ticketing, documentation, and reporting to DXC standards.
Health, Safety, Security & Environment
- Uphold DXC’s Zero Harm principles and site-specific safety protocols.
- Follow all mine-site HSE requirements, including PPE and access standards.
- Model safe work behaviour in all environments, including when travelling between sites.
Technical Skills Requirements:
Core IT Skills
- Advanced troubleshooting across end-user devices, hardware, and mobile technologies.
- Strong networking knowledge: switches, routers, Wi-Fi, cabling, VLANs, firewalls.
- Proficiency with Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.
- Experience with endpoint management, monitoring tools, and remote support platforms.
- Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and secure operational practices.
Operational Technology (OT) Skills
- Exposure to OT environments in mining, industrial, or heavy operations.<
