Where You Will Work
Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

Description
Under general supervision of the Activity Programs Specialist, responsible for the development, direction and operation of recreational events and sports programs. Ensure programs and events are fulfilling the needs of the community.
- Responsible for the overall effective operation and quality of recreational sports and community events.
- Assists in the administration of the budget of assigned responsibility; making timely adjustments as necessary.
- Maintains communications with stakeholders to enhance the sites programming scopes and resource base.
- Establishes a network of resources such as community agencies, organizations and service groups to enhance the sites programs.
- Performs public relations duties, recommends and provides feedback regarding program improvements that reflect the needs and interests of the community.
- Assists in training the recreational staff, and volunteers.
- Coordinates community and sports events.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Four (4) years of related experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in related field of study and two (2) years of related experience
- Strong customer service, listening and problem-solving skills
- Supervisory/management skills
- Competency in management, administration, promotion and program development
- Experience in relationship building with families of all ages and abilities
- Ability to use computers and MS Office software including word processing and database software
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively with people
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations and to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
Criteria/Conditions:
- Work is performed generally indoors and occasionally in the field.
- Work may be on site of special events and activities.
- Must be able to work irregular hours including some evenings and weekends.
