Our 8-week internship is an opportunity to gain valuable experience, expand your skills, and make meaningful contributions to our team. Our interns will work alongside our dynamic team to gain practical experience and contribute to exciting projects. This internship offers hands-on learning opportunities under the guidance of experienced engineers. Our interns will collaborate with our team, apply theoretical knowledge of real work challenges, and develop valuable technical skills. Position Summary: 

Under close supervision, the intern’s primary responsibility is the inspection and documentation of restoration projects. At this level, the individual should become comfortable with the many in-house and industry-standard computer programs that are used daily to facilitate the required documentation of projects. In this fast-paced environment, you must be able to prioritize tasks and work within deadlines while upholding a standard of excellence and attention to detail. DeSimone is proud to work side by side with our interns during this 8-week opportunity, to give them the exposure they need to progress in their future careers. 

Qualifications (Minimum and Desired): 

• High School Diploma 
• Must be enrolled in a Bachelors Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering - Must be a rising Senior 
• Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, materials, and procedures within the field of structural engineering and building restoration. 
• AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or other quantity take-off software and all internal engineering design tools 
• Possess strong verbal and written communications skills 
• Able to perform various tasks within the project team environment.   
• Must be able to take initiative to identify issues and propose practical solutions 
• Must be detail oriented with strong people and team skills 
• Have a sense of urgency and initiative essential for success 
• Rely on instructions and the pre-established guidelines of the material building codes to perform the functions of the job.  
• Have an understanding of safety protocols and practices in construction and facade restoration 

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

Engineering Skills

• Approaches problems with the aid of established internal guidelines and approved design programs

• Familiarity with construction materials and methods, especially concrete, stucco, glass, glazing, and roofing

• Knowledge of building codes and regulations related to facade restoration

• Familiarity in using relevant software for quantity take-offs and project documentation

Client/Communications Skills

• Effectively communicates information and asks well-structured questions
• Writes clear summaries and memos of own work
• Aware of importance of Business Development
• Works with scope items and accurately charges own labor to proper project numbers
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to prepare comprehensive inspection reports

Teamwork and Leadership
