Salary Range: $19.0800 - $29.3200 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

 

The Ambulatory Care Assistant (ACA) is responsible for maintaining a highly professional environment, ensuring a collaborative relationship with patients, physicians, referring physicians, and non-licensed and licensed staff in the Clinic.

  • The ACA assists with non-clinical tasks required to ensure smooth patient access and flow including scheduling patients for follow-up office visits, imaging and lab work, preparation of appropriate chart elements, escorting patients to rooms, and collecting vital signs and patient information.
  • May perform blood draw with phlebotomy certification.
  • Assists physician with tasks such as removing bandages, collection of samples not requiring sterile procedures, and other non-sterile tasks.
  • Stocks and organizes exam rooms and assists with the storage of medical supplies.
  • This position also handles the pre-authorization process and acts as a liaison between the providers and the patient.
  • The ACA works collaboratively with clinical staff to ensure all proper records are received and all appropriate testing is completed prior to the appointment/surgery date.
  • The ACA provides updates to the clinic staff and patients on timing ensuring patient flow.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One plus years in the healthcare field and a minimum of one year of previous experience within an acute healthcare system environment
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology

 

Preferred:

  • One to two years Associate or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field
  • Working Knowledge of EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record system ‘EMR’
  • Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates

 

Certifications Required

  • Current BLS Certification

 

Certifications Preferred

  • May only perform blood draws by meeting and maintaining State of California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPTI) Certification
