About the Role

Home Solutions, a dynamic and rapidly growing digital lead generation business in Raleigh, is on the lookout for an experienced Engineering Manager with sharp technical chops to lead and enhance our developer teams. As a key player in our organization, you will be instrumental in overseeing one to two teams across our business and driving our technology modernization initiatives forward.

Your Day-to-Day

• Technical Prowess: Ability to architect and deliver solutions to complex problems. You should have conviction in your technical philosophy with experience creating ADRs, DFDs, and other documentation tools to get your team onboard.
• WordPress Expertise: Leverage your strong background in WordPress to guide and enhance our web development efforts. You should possess a deep understanding of Wordpress' architecture, DB structure, and how to tune for performance.
• Frontend Mastery: Minimum 5 years experience within a frontend individual contributor role. Expert knowledge of ES6, CSS3 and HTML. Experience with a modern frontend framework is a must. Ideal candidates will have Typescript and Webpack/Bundler experience.
• Backend exposure: Familiarity with working with RESTful APIs, databases, docker containers, and cloud based deployment solutions. Bonus points for Laravel experience.
• Forward Thinking: Willing to lean into new technologies and processes to drive efficiency and results from your team. Wants to ensure maximum efficiency and developer satisfaction by leveraging modern pipelines and tools to automate routine tasks.
• Team Leadership: Showcase 1+ years of experience in an engineering management or staff engineer role, demonstrating a track record of leading and supporting successful teams. This is a technical management role, you will be splitting your time 50/50 between management tasks implementing features with the team.

About You

• 8+ years of front-end development experience using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Must have mastery of a modern JS framework and static site generator such as React/Next.js or equivalent.
• 5+ years of professional front-end development on top of multiple commonly used CMS systems like Wordpress, Drupal, Contentful, or Joomla. 
• 3+ years managing front-end development teams supporting a portfolio of different websites.
• Track record of attracting, motivating, and retaining high-quality talent.
• A start-up mentality- we act like entrepreneurs. Our team members are incredibly driven, agile, goal oriented, and are always up for a challenge.
• Business acumen and ability to translate business needs into technical requirements. Ideal candidate has experience developing architectural plans to accomplish business goals, utilizing ERDs, DFDs and ADRs to gain approval for projects.
• Stay up to date on the latest industry trends and experiment with new solutions. 
• Experience with Agile methodologies including common scrum ceremonies and tools (sprint planning, retrospective, demo, and story points).
• Familiarity with SQL / MySQL and the Wordpress $wpdb object.
• Experience managing hosting providers such as Cloudways and AWS.
• Expertise with Git and CI/CD pipelines, we use Gitflow and Github Actions.
• Bachelor’s degree, preferred
• Are able to travel to Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC 5% of the year.
