If you are driven to create a better, more sustainable future, then this is the right place for you.We are seeking a Staff Test Automation Engineer to support the Engineering Development Group – Automated Test Equipment team. The role will be focused on leading the design, documentation, integration, and support of National Instrument tools based automated test equipment for automotive products and systems. The staff engineer is considered a subject matter expert experienced in all aspects of the development process and technical leader within the team. The candidate will ensure that test equipment SW & HW design and implementation meets the product testing and test coverage requirements. This role will be responsible to define the complete test system, architect and develop large scale software applications test for a variety of end products in a small team environment focused on utilizing, building, and maintaining a reusable test software base.


Role:
  • Lead, design, develop, test, validate, and maintain software to meet test equipment requirements that are traceable to customer system specifications and software detail specifications for various types of specialized automated test equipment.
  • Teach, train, and mentor a small team of test software developers.
  • Maintain and advance the development of a reusable and configurable standard software architecture.
  • Design and develop Custom Tool, Automated Test Equipment (ATE) etc., to install in research & manufacturing unit for powertrain functional teams.
  • Develop Test Applications using NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, NI Veristand, Python, Arduino, MATLAB, PLC Programming, robot programming & other test automation software tools.
  • Work with test equipment such as NI data acquisition platform PXI, cDAQ, cRIO and its modules, power supplies, loads, transducers, I/O devices, and other instrument to meet requirements.
  • Make bench setup for manual test & automated test system based on test requirements, maintain & troubleshoot if any issues.
  • Collaborate with multiple other teams to deliver the projects on time.
  • Develop and maintain test documentation, plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Follow standards, guidelines, best practices to deliver quality products.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues that may be software, hardware, system, or product related to determine root cause and corrective action.
  • Communicate technical issues through written or verbal.


Qualifications:
  • 12+ years’ experience with bachelor’s degree or 10+ years and master’s degree.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical & electronics circuits and components.
  • Ability to study & understand electrical & electronic schematic & layout.
  • Exposure to electrical test equipment including but not limited to power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers etc.,
  • Experience in communication protocols like Automotive Ethernet, CAN, LIN etc.,
  • Exposure to AutoCAD Electrical, or similar, electrical CAD software.
  • Experienced/Understanding in Functional Testing, Reliability Testing, End of Line Testing etc.,
  • Strong Experience in software & hardware troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and responsive.
  • Good verbal communication skills.


Preferred:
  • National Instruments Certified LabView Architect (CLA)
  • EV Test Experience.
  • Experience in custom PCB design to integrate with test system.
  • Knowledge of safety and EMI requirements related to high power applications.
  • Familiar with fabrication, assembly of fixtures and wiring.
  • Hands-on experience in an engineering prototype, fabrication and/or machine shop environment with demonstrated mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Able to function at a high level with multiple tasks and projects, and to effectively change direction based upon business needs.
  • Knowledge in processes like GR&R, Cpk etc.,
