As a VP of Business Development at Transitions Care you are responsible for driving sustainable growth across Transitions Hospice’s markets through strategic planning, business development, and marketing leadership. This position oversees execution of the company’s marketing and growth strategy, supports field sales teams through tools and training, and partners with executive leadership to advance growth through organic expansion, de novo startups, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The VP collaborates closely with Operations, Finance, and Clinical Leadership to ensure market growth aligns with operational capacity, financial performance, and patient care standards. Travel 30% - 50%
Major Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Planning
- Leads the development and execution of the organization’s growth strategy, including organic growth, de novo market launches, and acquisition integration.
- Partners with the CEO, CFO, and Senior VP of Operations to identify, evaluate, and implement new market opportunities.
- Provides data-driven insights and recommendations to support forecasting and resource allocation.
Sales Enablement & Training
- Designs, develops, and maintains a comprehensive Sales Training Playbook outlining Transitions’ value proposition, referral development process, compliance standards, and performance expectations.
- Provides ongoing education and support to field sales leadership and representatives, including ride-alongs and in-market coaching as needed.
- Collaborates with Operations and Compliance to ensure alignment between marketing activities, clinical excellence, and regulatory requirements.
Leadership & Oversight
- Directly oversees the Marketing Operations Manager and Director of Market Development, ensuring cohesive execution of campaigns, analytics, and field support.
- Supports regional sales leaders through structured communication, training initiatives, and targeted development strategies without direct line management of sales staff.
- Develops, implements, and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) related to marketing effectiveness, referral growth, and ROI.
Brand & Market Positioning
- Strengthens Transitions’ reputation as a premier hospice and palliative care provider by driving brand consistency and community engagement across all markets.
- Maintains comprehensive market intelligence on competitors, referral patterns, and payer trends.
- Ensures marketing and outreach activities adhere to all applicable regulations, including anti-kickback, solicitation, and compliance standards.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare business development, preferably in hospice, home health, or post-acute sectors
- Proven success in strategic planning, market analysis, and multi-state business expansion.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective training and development programs.
- Willingness to travel to field markets regularly for support and oversight.
