Overview
The Agency of Transportation is seeking an AOT Manager that will be responsible for State Aviation Operations.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Operations management and oversight of various state-owned airports including budget development, grant management, program development, equipment purchase, lease management, vegetation management, and snow and ice control level of service.
- Interpret and enforce laws, rules and regulations for the operation of airports and inspecting airports in the State Airport System.
- Coordinate airport functions, to include the maintenance and operation of air navigational aids and systems, communication systems, and weather observing systems.
- Establish and maintain sound public relations with users of state airports and local and community groups, promoting and encouraging use of such airports by the public.
- Update the aviation website, airport directories, and aeronautical charts when requested.
- Makes determination when Federal Aviation Administration and state airport rules have been violated and reports to appropriate enforcement authority.
- Responsible for all permits, Air Show and Aerobatic waivers, parachute and aerial spray permits.
- Coordinate with municipal officials and airstrip operators, owners, developers, to ensure permits are in place and are in compliance with FAA regulations.
- May investigate accidents/incidents.
- Assists with Agency UAS/drone program.
This is not a remote position and the Manager will need to be working in the field at the airports that they are responsible for.

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in office and field settings. Incumbents should possess private means of transportation. Attendance at public meetings and hearings is required. Evening or weekend work may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree AND five (5) years or more of management experience in one or more the following areas (a) development of program rules and policies; (b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans: (c) program evaluation; or (d) budget preparation OR highway maintenance, engineering, construction, planning or a combination thereof.
OR
High school diploma or equivalent AND seven (7) years or more of management experience in one or more the following areas (a) development of program rules and policies; (b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans: (c) program evaluation; or (d) budget preparation OR highway maintenance, engineering, construction, planning or a combination thereof.
Special Requirements
Some positions may require registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
