Position Summary
The Senior Supply Chain Manager provides strategic leadership, coaching, and development for the Purchasing, Planning, and Warehouse teams while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role is responsible for ensuring material availability to support production, optimizing inventory levels, developing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings across the supply chain. The Senior Supply Chain Manager works closely with Buyers, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Corporate Purchasing to achieve organizational objectives and leverage corporate purchasing agreements. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations.
Essential Functions
- Lead, coach, and develop the Purchasing, Planning, and Warehouse teams.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers to achieve the highest levels of quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery.
- Negotiate supplier pricing, contracts, and long-term agreements.
- Partner with Corporate Purchasing to leverage enterprise-wide purchasing agreements and maximize cost savings.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including inventory days on hand, inventory turns, cycle count accuracy, obsolete inventory, supplier performance, and stockouts. Develop and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and support employee development through coaching, performance management, and training.
- Partner with Quality Engineering to maintain a formal supplier qualification and evaluation program, including tracking supplier performance and nonconforming materials.
- Oversee production planning activities to ensure accurate scheduling, timely release of work orders, and efficient material flow.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory optimization, supplier performance, warehouse operations, and material flow.
- Demonstrate strong leadership by effectively solving problems, influencing stakeholders, and motivating team members.
