JOB PURPOSE:
We are seeking a data governance associate manager to lead and oversee the development and execution of data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, compliance, and strategic alignment across U.S. operations. This role will focus on establishing best practices for managing data as a critical asset and ensuring compliance with U.S data regulations, such as CCPA, and other federal and state data privacy laws. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in U.S. specific data governance practices, hold relevant certifications, and excel at driving collaboration across teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute the data governance strategy in alignment with Unilever’s (soon to be Ice Cream Company’s) global framework
- Establish and maintain data governance policies, standards, and practices to ensure data quality, security, and usability across U.S. systems
- Lead the implementation of key performance indicators (KPI’s) to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and present findings to leadership
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with U.S. regulations such as CCPA and emerging federal and state privacy laws
- Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams to monitor evolving regulations and ensure data governance policies are up to date
- Identify, assess and mitigate risks to related data security, access, and usage within the U.S. market
- Oversee data quality efforts and ensure consistent application of governance policies across all brands
- Partner with data stewards and systems owners to monitor and resolve data quality issues
- Drive the adoption of data management tools and techniques to improve data integrity and accessibility
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as central point of contact for data governance across departments
- Collaborate with IT, data analytics, etc. To promote the value of data governance and ensure alignment with operational needs
- Provide training and guidance to data stewards and other key stakeholders on governance practices and compliance requirements
Technology Enablement
- Partner with IT teams to ensure proper integration of data governance technologies with existing systems
- Evaluate and approve data-related vendors and third-party partners, ensuring alignment with Unilever’s (soon to be Ice Cream company’s) data governance policies
- Collaborate with Procurement, Legal and IT teams to establish and negotiate data-sharing agreements, security standards, and compliance requirements
- Conduct periodic reviews of vendor performance and compliance to maintain the integrity of Unilever (Ice Cream company) data ecosystem

To succeed in this role, this individual must possess the following skills: Digital curiosity and accessibility, consumer insights, and be aware of content strategies and media strategy and planning processes and operations. This role will be a supportive function to the digital marketing, media and commerce “do-ers,” having this expertise and skill set will allow you to speak the same language, propose realistic and probably solutions and anticipate blockers or areas needing resolution
