Job Summary:
Provides oral hygiene and preventive services to dental patients. Evaluates and assesses provision of services. Performs extended function procedures safely in compliance with regulations under the direction of a dentist. Prepares materials and equipment for treatment and has them ready for use.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Two years' dental assistant experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Dental Assistant Extended Function (RDAEF) licensure in state of practice: Required
- Radiation Safety Certificate: Required
- Coronal Polish license: Required
- Sealant license: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
- Registered Dental Assistant Extended Functions (RDA-EF): Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
Essential Functions:
- Conducts preliminary evaluation of the patient's oral health, including (but not limited to) charting, intraoral and extra-oral evaluation of soft tissue, classifying occlusion, and myofunctional evaluation.
- Sizes and fits endodontic master points and accessory points. Cements endodontic master points and accessory points.
- Takes final impressions for tooth-borne removable prosthesis. Places, contours, finishes and adjusts all direct restorations.
- Polishes and contours existing amalgam restorations. Adjusts and cements permanent indirect restorations. Performs cord retraction of gingiva for impression procedures.
- Takes final impressions for permanent indirect restorations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
