Job Description Summary

This is a hybrid clinical research coordinator position that combines clinical research and lab-based activities in support of a grant related to advancing our understanding of cognitive impairment in Parkinson’s disease and related disorders.

Job Description

This Clinical Research Coordinator A (CRC-A) hybrid position will support interactions between the Clinical Core and Research Projects of an NIH-funded program to study mechanisms underlying cognitive decline in Parkinson’s disease (PD) and related disorders at the University of Pennsylvania. Primary duties are (1) conducting research visits for a longitudinal study of cognitive decline and motor progression in PD, and (2) banking and performing research on patient-derived biosamples. For the former, individuals with PD are enrolled through the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center in the Department of Neurology at Pennsylvania Hospital. Clinical research visit duties include administering batteries of neuropsychological tests and other non-motor and motor assessments, specimen collection and other procedures, screening and recruitment, database entry and management, and IRB documentation. For the latter, research activities will take place primarily in the Chen-Plotkin lab at the University of Pennsylvania, where duties will include banking patient-derived samples and performing biomarker-related research activities. The CRC-A will split their time evenly between the two sets of activities, seeing research participants as well as conducting bench-based investigations.

QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for a highly motivated person who is excited about doing a combination of clinical research with a small bench work component. A bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field is required for this position, and 1 to 2 years of experienc
