Test Lead - Non-functional

About the role

This role is part of the Technical Assurance team within the Payments Settlements department, Business Services Group. Business Services Group is responsible for the provision of banking and payments services to Australian Government agencies, the provision of payment settlement services to Australian financial system participants through the Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System (RITS) and the Fast Settlement Service (FSS), the conduct of Exchange Settlement Accounts and the production and issuance of Australian banknotes.

We are looking for an experienced Non-functional Test Lead to join our team on 2-year fixed term basis.

Key Objectives:

  • Leading the non-functional test strategy definition for Payments Settlements Portfolio projects and BAU changes, encompassing approach for performance, failover, recovery and other non-functional testing types based on the requirements. 

  • Leading the non-functional test strategy implementation for high critical systems such as RITS, FSS, Swift and associated systems.

  • Uplifting the non-functional test process maturity by assessing and improving the process framework, standards and tools.  

  • Technical leadership in performance testing tools and monitoring tools such as JMeter, Gatling, and AppDynamics.

  • Lead by example in transforming the testing approach towards "Shift-Left" by working closely with the team members through mentoring and coaching.

  • Support coordination and planning of testing activities of systems in the Payment Settlements (PS) department aimed at minimising risk while achieving high levels of quality, in the most pragmatic manner.

  • Ensure consistent application of testing standards, practices, and processes, whilst aiming for continuous improvement to achieve value-based practices.

  • Work with the development team, operations, extended IT team and other sections to drive quality improvements particularly in the non-functional testing space, and to foster a quality mindset.

  • Provide second-level support to PS Operations and PS Settlements, this includes training, handover, and support documentations.

Your Background

  • Extensive experience in the leading, planning, supporting the testing of non-functional changes to mission critical systems.

  • Experience in implementing non-functional testing frameworks and tools.

  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills in managing challenges with "Shift-Left" implementation approach.

  • Experience and understanding of agile concepts and its implementation.

  • Expertise in the area of Swift is strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience with payments and settlements systems is desired.
