HOW YOU WILL DO IT

Purpose Statement:  The Senior Network Engineer manages and maintains our company’s computer networks. This involves planning and developing solutions for crucial infrastructure initiatives to create and maintain a vision for the corporate network infrastructure. In addition, this role provides high-level technical guidance and support for the enterprise network structure, as well as mentorship and guidance for a team of administrators that troubleshoots and optimizes our networks.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • System Maintenance: Follows established change management policy and procedure to research and recommend new technology, test and implement system updates, modifications or deletions. Works to ensure systems remain healthy and available while delivering flawless execution to common, customized and complex tasks as well as strategic projects.
  • System Ownership: Own and maintain systems, networks, technologies, inventory or processes that provide a solution to a business function of Plexus. The support of high complexity solutions to ensure the availability, integrity, security and recoverability of Plexus data on a 24 x 7 x 365 basis. This includes ticket escalation and resolution; patch management and deployment; performance and availability monitoring; resource capacity and management; upgrade execution; system documentation; installation and configuration. Ensures user satisfaction by resolving complex operational issues regarding area of expertise or assignment, utilizing Plexus policies and/or procedures. Delivers permanent resolution and improves operating efficiencies through root cause analysis
  • Project Work: Partner and collaborate with members of global IT to deploy high complexity purchased or developed technologies that support business requirements.
  • User Support: Ensures user satisfaction by resolving common, customized and complex operational issues regarding areas of expertise or assignment, utilizing Plexus policies and/or procedures. Identifies permanent resolution through root cause analysis.
  • Operations: Develop, enhance and follow policies and procedures that are established to deploy, manage and support systems which provide services to global, regional or local Plexus personnel and/or customer needs.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor or Associate degree in networking, network security, or closely related field; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent work experience.

Other Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of networking services and common networking protocols
  • Knowledge of network hardware and equipment (Cisco ACI, Cisco Catalyst, Cisco ISE, Meraki SDWAN, Palo Alto)
  • Knowledge of enterprise-level networking
  • Knowledge of the inner workings of the major network routing protocols, including dynamic routing
  • Experience with a variety of firewalls, including the unified threat management environment
  • Knowledge of building, developing, and maintaining SD-WAN environments
  • Current certifications in networking technologies like Cisco or Meraki
  • Computer literacy in Google Workspace or Windows environment including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheets, flowcharting and other software development, documentation, or project management tools needed to perform assignment.
