As the Senior Project Engineer, you will lead key strategic projects for new product development. You will engage surgeon customers on new product designs, drive the creation of user needs and design inputs, plan development projects, and communicate product and project risks. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with a cross functional project team to deliver exceptional product, through a rapid design process, for commercialization.
- Collaborate with Surgeon Advisory Board, Marketing, and Design Engineers on new product feasibility to understand product needs and formulate design inputs
- Conduct design team meetings (cadaver labs and conference calls) with Surgeon Advisory Board and leads the organization of meeting content related to projects
- Actively participates in a fast-paced design iteration cycle providing feedback from a product commercialization lens
- Provide technical guidance to project teams related to product testing, verification, validation, risk analysis, and design requirements
- Perform product design work (CAD) as needed to support business objectives
- Develop project plans and resource needs for new product development projects to align with business objectives
- Create and maintain schedules, budgets, and technical risk trackers, providing feedback to the cross functional team and R&D leadership
- Work with vendors, contract manufacturers, and other partners through technical issues
- Coordinate and oversee the testing of new products with external testing facilities
- Plan, schedule, track, and provide technical feedback on design concepts, tolerance analysis, finite element analysis, and other engineering analysis
- Create documents within the PDM (Solidworks) system according to quality requirements and Engineering Change Order work instructions. Guide the selection of ECO type based on business needs.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff and review their work
- Collaborate with cross functional teams, anticipates needs / requests of other departments
- Develop appropriate commercialization pathways with Regulatory and communicates risks to launch timing for those pathways
