As the International Indirect Tax Manager, Compliance & Planning, you will support Starbucks' global indirect tax function through management of international VAT, GST, and other indirect tax compliance activities while providing practical tax guidance to business partners. This role will work closely with accounting, finance, legal, supply chain, and external advisors to help ensure compliance with global tax obligations and support business initiatives across Starbucks' international markets.

As an International Indirect Tax Manager, you will:

•    Manage international indirect tax compliance – Coordinate VAT, GST, and other indirect tax filings, working with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure timely and accurate compliance.
•    Support tax planning and advisory initiatives – Provide indirect tax guidance related to business transactions, contracts, cross-border activities, and operational changes. Assist in evaluating tax risks and opportunities associated with business initiatives.
•    Partner across the business – Collaborate with finance, accounting, legal, procurement, technology, and international business teams to identify and address indirect tax considerations in day-to-day operations.
•    Assist with audits and tax authority inquiries – Support responses to indirect tax audits, examinations, and information requests while maintaining appropriate documentation and supporting analyses.
•    Identify process improvement opportunities – Help improve compliance processes, reporting capabilities, and indirect tax controls while supporting tax technology and automation initiatives.
•    Monitor legislative developments – Track changes in indirect tax laws and regulations and assess potential impacts on Starbucks' business operations and compliance obligations.

We'd love to hear from people with:
•    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field
•    CPA, MST, or equivalent certification preferred
•    5+ years of progressive indirect tax experience, including international VAT/GST
•    Experience in a multinational corporation and/or public accounting firm
•    Knowledge of VAT, GST, sales and use tax, and other transaction taxes
•    Experience supporting tax compliance and reporting processes
•    Experience researching and analyzing indirect tax issues
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across diverse stakeholder groups
•    Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
•    Experience working with tax technology solutions, like Vertex 
•    Experience working with external advisors and service providers preferred
