Job Description

The Lead Engineer is the direct leader of more critical groups with significant responsibilities. These groups may sometimes be more heavily resourced with more senior staff or more staff in general or be responsible for more technically complex or strategically important parts of the architecture or product. Lead Engineers are expected to build relationships throughout the organization to ensure whole-company alignment and support for their goals, and vice-versa. The Lead engineers architects and designs their digital products using modern tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems. They apply a systematic application of scientific and technological knowledge, methods, and experience to the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of software. They own and manage running their application in production, and ultimately becomes accountable for the success of their digital products through achieving KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as an authority in software best practices and be relied upon to propagate these in the broader organization, beyond their individual team.

• Serves as an expert on multiple business domain and a distinguished advocate of multiple technology stacks and shares that knowledge across organizations

• Leads collaboration and strategy alignment across product portfolios (cross-product) in partnership with product managers, other peers and key stakeholders

 •  Leads the effort of shaping the architecture and design of the product

•  Leads the teams that are responsible for strategic and critical pieces of architecture or provide functions that are of key strategic value to the business.

• Leverage and influence key stakeholders

• Expert ability to view the organization as a whole.

 • Build foundation to translate strategy into challenging and meaningful goals

 •  Frequently advise others on complex engineering matters.

  • Serves as the anchor of the team and practices technical leadership; helping guide the team in choosing the right technology, solving technical problems, and resolving any technical conflicts within the team

   • Participate in product scoping, discovery and framing, and inceptions providing technical input and helps translate user features into system design

TECHNICAL SKILLS

•  Experience and knowledge in developing REST APIs using Java Spring boot, including tooling for documentation (swagger, REST-docs, OpenAPI spec), versioning, service discovery/registration, testing and management; experience using API gateways a plus.

•  Experience and knowledge in web and API security including authentication, authorization, OAuth, OWASP, OpenID, and SAML.

 • Experience in backend development design and implementation, database (MongoDB, caching) and Kafka messaging. 

 • Knowledge and experience using distributed version control systems (git), artifact management systems, build and packaging systems (maven, gradle, npm, artifactory, etc ) and Jenkins or similar Continuous Integration tools .

• Experience of working in an Agile environment or paired programming/engineering model.

• Experience in automation test suite using Python. 

• Experience with the test driven approach and writing unit tests for front to back coverage.

• Experience with problem-solving and analyzing performance bottlenecks

Education

• 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred)

Experience

• 10 or more years of experience (Preferred)
