You will mentor team members, foster technical excellence, and lead cross-functional initiatives.</p><h3>Qualifications</h3><p><strong>What you will do</strong></p><ul><li>Work on impactful projects with high volumes of production traffic.</li><li>Produce simple, maintainable code while always looking to improve it.</li><li>Define testing strategies and write automated tests.</li><li>Own your code all the way to production with a self-service continuous delivery pipeline and production infrastructure.</li><li>Run what you build using containers orchestration and monitoring technologies.</li><li>Perform code-reviews promptly, regularly and constructively.</li><li>Lead system design and code architecture discussions.</li><li>Foresee the impact of business and technical decisions on performance, reliability and scalability.</li><li>Own the entire software lifecycle.</li><li>Propose and participate in team processes improvements.</li><li>Lead the technical excellence of the system and create plans to mitigate outages.</li><li>Pro-actively mentor other engineers.</li></ul><p><strong>What you need to bring to the role </strong></p><ul><li>Solid understanding of modern testing principles.</li><li>Proven experience of working with the majority of our tech-stack.</li><li>High focus on quality, operational excellence and customer experience.</li><li>Extensive experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Experience with a highly distributed microservices architecture.</li><li>Expert knowledge of Python and some of the main web frameworks (Flask, FastAPI, Django, CherryPy).</li><li>Experience with MongoDB and/or PostgreSQL.</li><li>Profound knowledge of Docker.</li></ul><p><strong>Nice-to-Have</strong></p><ul><li>Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to end user.</li><li>Experience participating in mitigating technical debt.</li><li>Experience with Kubernetes and AWS technologies.</li><li>Ability to think abstractly and deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems.</li><li>Proactive in identifying risks and taking an impact-centric approach to problem-solving.</li><li>Significant evidence of having maintained and owned monolithic services.</li><li>Visible contribution to open-source projects.</li></ul><p><strong>Tools &amp; Technology</strong></p><ul><li>Collaboration &amp; documentation: JIRA, Confluence, Slack, Miro</li><li>Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Vault, AWS, Grafana, ELK Stack, New Relic, GitLab.</li><li>Python (FastAPI, CherryPy, Flask), Redis, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, MongoDB</li></ul><p><strong>Here’s what we have to offer!</strong></p><ul><li>A full-time, 100% remote role based in any worldwide YouGov office, or country in which we have a legal entity</li><li>Competitive salary and benefits package</li><li>Flexible working hours (we are a global team of remote first developers operating in European, Indian and US/Canada time zones)</li><li>A good work-life balance.
