The Restaurant Learning and Development Manager (Field) will be instrumental in achieving our vision by leading and developing training initiatives that foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
The Restaurant Learning and Development Manager (Field) is the key L&D leader within the GSR BRANDS for field locations. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, this role is responsible for evaluating current technology and infrastructure, implementing new technologies and procedures, and leading the overall training function for Gold Star and Tom & Chee restaurants. The Manager will manage two Franchise Business Consultants (FBCs) and will be pivotal in building and delivering a comprehensive training roadmap to support field execution. Additionally, this role will oversee the development of GSTC University and hold onsite classes at the Corporate office to provide targeted training focused on skills and growth within our restaurants
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead the L&D function to deliver an aligned and coherent training and learning strategy that supports the strategic direction of Gold Star and Tom & Chee brands.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop comprehensive and innovative learning solutions.
- Acquire and maintain in-depth knowledge of brand identity, product standards, and standard operating procedures.
- Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
- Apply standardized training development methodology and adult learning principles to the design of training materials.
- Plan, prioritize, design, deliver, and evaluate training and development programs utilizing blended learning methods (instructor-led, e-learning, video, etc.) to support company and department strategic initiatives.
- Write user-friendly, engaging content about operational processes and procedures.
- Develop and maintain training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials for all operations enhancement strategies.
- Complete reviews and quality assurance checks of all materials prior to final sign-off.
- Support instructional design projects by coordinating print requirements and specifications with print vendors.
- Oversee the cascade and implementation of new and updated training materials, ensuring processes are in place.
- Adhere to established timelines to deliver training assets and update project tracker.
- Lead the development and implementation of GSTC University, conducting onsite classes at the Corporate office to provide training based on skills and growth in our restaurants.
- Develop and deliver a training roadmap to FBCs to support field execution.
- Evaluate current technology and infrastructure, implementing new technologies and procedures to enhance training delivery.
- Perform other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Management, or Human Resources OR relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of voice of the customer sentiment to aid in building content
- 2-5 years of progressive training and development experience with demonstrated accomplishments in the areas of the ADDIE model; implementation including technical skills, customer service, and leadership development.
- Minimum 2-year experience with eLearning tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.
- Intermediate knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, including Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro.
- Full understanding of all phases of training development process and adult learning principles.
- Highly proficient in web-based learning technology and authoring tools.
- Ability to effectively multi-task, managing multiple projects at different points in their lifecycles.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
- Strong project management skills, presentation skills, and the ability to develop creative solutions that address relevant business needs and support the culture and environment.
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Proficient in planning and organizing – forward-thinking to establish an efficient and appropriate course of action in a fast-paced environment.
