International Property Underwriter (or Senior Int'l Property Underwriter) - Central Region

About the Role:

 

Our Property Team is looking for an International Underwriter with recognized experience and visibility in the Central Region - Commercial Property insurance market and a successful track record in underwriting both Global and Domestic large and medium sized Corporations. 

 

•    Manage a portfolio of accounts including fronted global Property programs
•    Analyze and underwrite exposures including Natural Catastrophe hazards and assess technical insurability and coverages for new and renewal property submissions
•    Work with a cross-functional team to deliver innovative international program solutions that meet customer needs and Swiss Re objectives 

•    Build relationships with our clients and brokers.

About You:

 

You are a strong communicator, able to build partnerships with external customers and internal co-workers. You are an initiative-taker, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-focused environment, and deliver on tight deadlines. You are a strong negotiator, results oriented, and take responsibility for your decisions.

 

•    Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in commercial property insurance underwriting; or 7 – 10 years' experience for Senior Underwriter (of medium to large corporate accounts).
•    Experience in structuring and fronting of Global Programs preferred. Experience working with Captives a plus.
•    Knowledge of complex shared and layered program structures as well as 100% Single Carrier business is desired. 

•    Experience across diverse occupancies including heavy manufacturing preferred.
•    Strong broker network.
    

 

 

*Some travel within the region including air travel for client/broker meetings will be required.

The role is located in our Chicago, IL or Kansas City, Missouri office. Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office three days per week. The estimated base salary range for the Underwriter level is $108,000 to $162,000 and the Senior Underwriter level is $156,000 to $234,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.
