About the role

Description

The Gordon College Psychology program invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track psychologist position, preferably at the associate or full professor level, commensurate with experience. This person serves as the program and clinical director. The program is located within the School of Psychology and Human Services and housed in the Ken Olsen Science Center on Gordon’s campus. We seek someone with a Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree with excellent teaching and mentoring skills who can bring appropriate clinical and research experience to contribute to the School, the College, and the discipline. The position will begin July 2025.

The master’s level degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a new venture, planned to begin in the fall of 2025, and inspired by a desire to serve students well. It is designed to meet standards for LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) accreditation. The program will be staffed by faculty with a Christian faith commitment and asks that graduate students respect but not necessarily adhere to the Christian faith. Classes will be online synchronous and taught from a holistic, values-based, faith-sensitive perspective.

The Program Director will oversee all aspects of graduate student clinical training, including practicum and internship placements, and the integration of clinical experiences with academic coursework. In addition, the director is responsible for ensuring that the program meets state and APA accreditation standards and prepares students for professional licensure.

The Psychology program, housed in the Ken Olsen Science Center on Gordon’s campus, offers outstanding colleagues who are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service along with motivated students who are eager to engage with their faculty colleagues. This Program Clinical Director role involves collaboration with faculty, students, and external partners as well as the Dean of the School to develop and maintain high-quality training opportunities. The position includes the expectation that the Program Clinical Director will be in charge of applying for accreditation, supervising the program under the direction of the Dean of the School, and teaching one course yearly in the graduate program as well as the Practicum/Internship courses.

The position is a faculty position and may include some teaching of undergraduates as well as graduate students.
