Pay Range
$21.85 - $32.80Major Responsibilities:- Acts as a resource to employees, to include training/orienting, providing day-to-day work direction, and giving input on performance. Assigns, monitors, and reviews progress and accuracy of work; directs efforts and provides guidance on more complex issues.
- Assists in development, revision, and maintenance of policies and procedures. Assists with human resource responsibilities, which may include: interviewing and selection of new employees, staff development, resolution of employee concerns, and employee morale.
- Monitors general department operations, prepares and maintains schedules, records essential information and ensures work is completed in a timely manner. Assigns staff to appropriate training components, conducts daily checks on employee staffing, and makes adjustments/substitutes as necessary.
- Assists in patient treatments, which includes the following: Patient transfers, lifts, toileting; preparing patient, equipment and environment; assisting with wound care and gait training; routine therapeutic exercise programs; activities of daily living training; general group and hydrotherapy treatments; modalities such as hot/cold packs, paraffin, ultrasound (with/without electrical stimulation), fluidotherapy, iontophoresis, interferential current, neuromuscular stimulation, and cervical and pelvic traction.
- Directs patients and visitors to proper person or area. Documents and communicates status changes regarding patients for the appropriate therapist.
- Performs reception/clerical duties and registration, scheduling, cashiering, admitting and follow-up of patients to ensure they are cared for in the most efficient and courteous manner. Coordinates patient appointments with other areas or physician offices as needed.
- Maintains department files, binders, records, logs, etc. Processes billing/reimbursement forms and other department records. Completes insurance verifications and authorizations. Tracks and follows up on need for re-authorizations.
- Facilitates initiation and oversees completion of outcome tools. Works with outcome data gathering source and staff to ensure proper completion of forms and process.
- Orders, stocks, and organizes therapy equipment and supplies. Stocks and disposes linens as appropriate. Monitors department office equipment and troubleshoots minor problems. Cleans and disinfects gym/treatment areas, equipment, tables, wheelchairs, walkers, pool, hydrotherapy unit, etc. Performs routine maintenance/safety checks and completes work orders.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Education Required:
- High School Graduate.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in a Rehabilitation Aide position and/or providing basic patient care in a clinical and/or rehabilitation setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Demonstrated leadership skills such as delegation, team building, managing multiple priorities, problem solving, and decision making.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Intermediate computer skills including experience with word processing, spreadsheet software, data entry, and keyboarding.
