Where You Will Work    

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you’ll engage in virtual collaboration as well as attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Description

Under general supervision, manage the bulk inbound and outbound logistics network for Cu and Moly mines, processing plants, and sales operations. The logistics network includes inter-company, inbound and outbound shipments in North America (US, Canada and Mexico) primarily using truck and rail. Responsible for all elements of the network to include the execution of daily operations, plans, capacity, logistics nodes, cost management, process improvement, maintenance, rail car leasing, MIS bulk logistics systems advocacy, regulatory and safety compliance. Bulks include Cu concentrate, lime, acid, sulfur, grinding media, explosive materials, Caustic, lube oil, diluent, magnesium chloride, cathode and anode.

  • Oversee, coordinate, support and provide oversite of all site, US and international bulk shipments supporting company operations (truck and rail) in North America (US, Canada, and Mexico).
  • Serve as the logistics specialist and liaison coordinating transportation with sites, sales, transportation carriers to ensure on-time deliveries and reasonable cost. Resolves site, logistics providers, and corporate conflicts as required to maintain and improve logistics operations, safety, performance and cost, and shipment compliance. Compliance to include local, state, federal and international regulatory compliance – i.e. permitting, OSHA, HAZMAT, MSDS, import/export licensing, HTS classifications, and ECCN as well as FCX INCOTERMS.
  • Perform logistics and transportation bulk operations planning (1 year and less) to support mine, bulk commodity, and sales operations. Synchronize planning with long term strategic logistics plans (1+ to 5 years) for North America (US, Canada, Mexico).
  • Functional specialist/advocate for bulk logistics MIS systems used to support transportation operations. Track domestic and international in-transit visibility and, capture information for analysis and decisions.
  • Lead and negotiate all rates and commercial terms with bulk rail and truck logistics companies and carriers, to include rail car leases and maintenance. Manage all FMI rail car Nikisa lease summaries. Analyze transportation spend and drive cost saving projects.
  • Oversee commercial relationships with bulk truck carriers, Class 1 and short line Railroads to monitor and improve carrier performance ensuring safe, timely service, and appropriate pricing. Approve railroad route and manage rate creation. Meet with carriers weekly or as needed to ensure successful logistics operations.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the North American trucking and railroad markets (Class 1 and regional short line railroads), rail car leasing and contracting, bulk terminal operations, and trans loading.
  • Monitor and coordinate actions to repair and maintain FMI rail and contracted infrastructure to ensure it is in a good operating condition.
  • Approve / Reject / Reconcile / Track rail and bulk truck transportation disputed invoices prior to payment. Oversee rail and bulk truck freight payment processes from an operational impact perspective.
