SUMMARY
Forest Electric NJ is seeking a Director of Operations responsible for assisting to shape and develop strategy across the organization. The Director of Operations reports directly to the President of Forest Electric NJ and will be responsible for overseeing and managing operations for Fleet and Field labor, by providing oversight, direction and support to the division mangers and their teams. This position requires at least 6-10 years’ progressive experience in project management or operations in the Construction Industry working for a multi-million-dollar Electrical Contractor. The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing Forest Electric NJ operations, business development, and proactively visiting projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- The Director of Operations is responsible for advising the President on business development and corporate planning issues that relate and impact the operations of the company.
- Ensure all are informed about business activities, performance, and recommended courses of action.
- Lead operations, by providing oversight, direction and support with estimating bid packages (electrical and low voltage), planning, directing, or coordinating activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
- Provide oversight and participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation, inclusive of reverse estimating/monthly job walks with team to evaluate cost to complete.
- Visit projects regularly and understand cost to complete, comparing estimate (electrical and low voltage) and cost codes.
- Ensure proper report structure across the organization. Identify opportunities and areas and areas for improvement across the Company to improve the operational systems, processes, and policies in support of organizational missions such as:
- Improve Management Reporting, Document and Information Control, Business Processes and Organizational Planning and Training.
- Improve the bridging of Operations and Accounting and Project Management and Field Labor.
- Assist with evaluating and taking actions that are consistent with the overall company strategy.
- Set Performance goals that are tailored to each Division and challenge basic assumptions underlying each Division’s operations.
- Establish short-term goals that align with the long-term objectives to enhance functional and operational activities.
- Monitor Division performance against performance goals to ensure progress is being made, and if necessary, corrective actions are taken.
- Identify and establish key performance indicators for operations as well as deliver report on performance to measure against.
- Establish monthly project status / cost projection reviews with each Project Manager and other team members. Report these to the President and CFO.
- Implement strategic management processes that require restructuring, reengineering, and refocusing the organization as required through action plans and focus driven processes.
- Strategic management of the field production, prefab, BIM & CAD field layout, technology (hardware / software application) and SOP.
- Optimization of customer satisfaction/loyalty through improved operations Increase relations with suppliers to improve efficiency on all projects.
- Support Project Managers with customer service engagement on projects, job site concerns and change orders.
- Build cohesiveness with all our suppliers so that they know how best to serve us. Implementation of productivity/quality metrics designed to minimize costs and enhance efficiency by using quantitative and qualitative measures.
