About the role

Objective and Purpose:

The Accountant II is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the multi-entity organization. This role plays a key part in day-to-day accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial analysis, and monthly close processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in a multi-location or healthcare setting, with strong attention to detail and a working knowledge of GAAP. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for multiple dental practices/entities consistently meeting established deadlines.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, amortizations, and intercompany transactions. 
  • Perform balance sheet and bank account reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items on a timely basis. 
  • Review and analyze monthly P&L results, researching significant fluctuations and ensuring transactions are recorded accurately.. 
  • Support general ledger maintenance and ensure data accuracy and integrity. 
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and internal reports. 
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances with general ledger entries. 
  • Collaborate with operational teams to collect data and ensure financial accuracy. 
  • Assist in developing and improving accounting processes, internal controls, and efficiencies. 
  • Maintain organized and complete documentation supporting all accounting entries and reconciliations. 
  • Perform other accounting and financial reporting duties and special projects as assigned. 
  • Support external audits by preparing requested schedules and responding to auditor inquiries. 
  • Review financial transactions for accuracy, proper account coding, department allocations, and supporting documentation. 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience; experience in a healthcare or multi-entity environment is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or other ERP systems). 
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas). 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. 
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow within the role. 
  • Experience working in a multi-entity or high-volume accounting environment preferred. 

Expectations: 

  • Perform  thorough review of all work before submission, with minimal errors. 
  •  Maintain up-to-date, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial records across multiple dental practice entities. 
  • Ensure all journal entries, reconciliations, and reports are error-free and delivered on schedule. 
  • Ability to practively issues. 
  • Consistently meet month-end and quarter-end close deadlines. 
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations monthly, ensuring timely resolution of variances or discrepancies. 
  • Work with operations, billing, payroll, and accounts payable teams to gather accurate data and support integrated financial reporting. 
  • Follow internal controls and accounting policies. 
  • Assist in refining and documenting accounting processes for scalability and audit readiness.
