Overview and Responsibilities:

CBS Newspath is seeking an Associate Producer with a strong dedication to journalism to coordinate Newspath news production and newsgathering operations. This role requires strong organizational skills and a deep commitment to journalistic integrity, ensuring timely and impactful news coverage for our audience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Help manage Newspath's response to breaking news and respond to video and editorial requests from CBS broadcasts, owned stations, affiliates and clients.
• The AP is also responsible for editing and publishing Newspath video and scripts and assisting in the transmission and distribution of live video, edited video and correspondent packages.
• The AP will occasionally fill in for the Supervising Producer.
• Editorial responsibilities such as: spot viral and pre-trending content and turn it around for our brand and be well-versed in rights and clearances.

Basic Qualifications:

• Ability to multi-task and thrive in a dynamic, quickly-changing environment is essential.
• A focus on multi-media content.
• Understanding TV newsgathering and transmission technology.
• Strong editing skills.
• Highly developed relationship building skills.
• Strong editorial judgement & excellent writing skills.

Additional Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in local and/or network TV news or show producer preferred.
• Avid preferable.
• Knowledge of regional television markets and station relationships a plus.
• Degree in broadcast journalism or related field preferred.
• Willingness and flexibility to work a variety of different shifts, overnight and weekend responsibilities.
• The candidate must be familiar with all major social media platforms and vehicles for engaging audiences on a digital level. This includes - but is not limited to - Facebook, Facebook Live, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Instagram Stories, and YouTube.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $62,400.00 - 72,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
