Manager, Programs - Camps

Overview

 

Scope of Position: Lead the development and implementation of the vision, direction, and structure of day camp programs—both domestically and internationally—in alignment with the strategic plans set forth by the Communities Leadership Team. Lead the program team to create an excellent, mission-centered participant experience, inclusive of campers and summer staff. Assume accountability for program outcomes and safety standards of all participants and staff. Serve on the WinShape Camps for Communities Leadership Team.

 

Reports to: Senior Manager, WinShape Camps for Communities

Responsibilities

• Lead and foster healthy collaboration between the employees of the Camp Experience, Summer Staff, and International teams of WinShape Camps for Communities.
• Assist in the creation of the WinShape Camps philosophy and methodology of Camper Engagement and age-appropriate programming alongside the Activities Team.
• Conduct, engage, and integrate research pertaining to trends in child, young adult, and family development into the work of the team.
• Maximize ministry impact by implementing data-driven continuous improvement strategies for all aspects of programming.
• Improve Summer Staff effectiveness to implement camp programming by guiding the collaboration of Summer Staff and Camp Experience teams
• Support recruitment and retention efforts to create a rich pool of summer staff applicants—including the relational recruitment of returning staff and supporting on-campus new staff recruiting initiatives.
• Support the growth efforts of WinShape Camps for Communities through the development and implementation of programming in new markets as determined by the Communities Leadership Team.
• Champion safety as a mindset and lead the practical implementation of safety standards across all elements of the program for both campers and Summer Staff.
• Prepare personal and professional development opportunities for employees in the Program department.
• Cultivate partnerships that will enhance WinShape Camps for Communities ability to achieve its mission.
• Serve on the Communities Leadership Team and provide input in the creation of annual organizational goals and long-range planning.
• Serve as a member of assigned work team(s) as needed.
• Make recommendations for the WinShape Camps for Communities budget and accept budgetary accountability for the Program Team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Requires 5-7 years of relevant work experience to include leading people
• Strong communication and relational skills
• Experience in strategic planning, project management, and leading teams
• Preferred experience in youth program development
• Experience in research implementation
• Demonstrates skills in written and verbal communication, time management, training facilitation, and goal setting
• Willing to engage in moderate travel (10-20%) throughout the year and heavy travel (50-60%) in the summer
• Maintain regular office hours
• A self-professing Christ-follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community and actively pursuing Christ on a consistent basis
• Must hold or obtain a valid driver’s license for the state in which they are hired and have an acceptable driving record
