Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.
The Director, HR Business Partner, will play a key role in advancing Madrigal’s strategic objectives by leading critical HR initiatives across workforce planning, employee engagement, performance management, and leadership development. This role is instrumental in fostering a high-performance culture that reflects Madrigal’s core values—Focus on Patients, Owner Mindset, Innovation, and Collaboration.
The Director will partner closely with senior leaders to shape and implement HR strategies that drive business outcomes. Responsibilities include talent planning, performance and compensation management, organizational development, and initiatives that strengthen leadership capability and employee engagement.
Reporting to the Vice President of HR Business Partnering, this role will provide dedicated support to the Medical Affairs and Legal & Compliance functions.
Position Responsibilities:
- Establish trusted, collaborative, and responsive relationships with leaders across the organization, understanding their strategies, priorities, and goals to shape impactful HR programs and priorities that align with Madrigal’s core values.
- Manage key HR activities including workforce planning, employee engagement, talent management with measurable outcomes in mind.
- Coach and develop leaders to strengthen their management and leadership skills, fostering high-performing and collaborative teams.
- Implement and manage performance management programs that align with Madrigal’s high-performance culture, driving accountability and growth.
- Collaborate across HR functions to implement tailored HR programs that address dynamic organizational needs and priorities.
- Continuously assess and enhance culture and engagement by identifying and implementing solutions that improve engagement, reinforce organizational values, and build a thriving workplace.
- Contribute to HR projects and initiatives on an as-needed basis to drive organizational success.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR Business Partner experience, with expertise in organizational effectiveness, change management, learning and development, and talent management.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources management (or related field) is required. Graduate degree highly preferred
Technical Skills: knowledge in organizational design, change management, workforce planning, talent management, coaching, performance management, employee engagement, and HR systems.
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and precision in work.
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
Proficiency in Workday and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
Core Competencies:
Proven customer-centric focus with the ability to influence culture and align business goals, behaviors, and compensation systems to drive performance.
Strong consultative style with demonstrated experience supporting employees and management at all levels.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to travel up to 25%.
Compensation: Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands.
