Purpose

  • The Assistant Manager, Port Quality ensures Hyundai vehicles leave the ports at the highest level of quality possible by monitoring product quality and all facets of the port processing procedures; storage, final inspection, campaigns, accessory installation, load line audits and truck/rail transportation. They will assist in evaluation and test the functionality of the Dealer PDI app. They also maintain the Port Audit system, evaluate Port Installed Option accessories.

Major Responsibilities

Vehicle Quality Assurance:

  • Quality Information Reports (QIR) are prepared as necessary to provide first-look knowledge of any product quality issues prior to dealer shipment.
  • Exercise independent judgement in port warranty claims review and approval.
  • Warranty repair parts oversight/support.
  • Conduct spot checks and report as needed.
  • Port campaign process oversight/support.
  • Conduct monthly FPOR (First Point of Rest), Load Line and Aged Inventory audits.
  • Visit rail ramps and do the audit to find rail transportation issues as needed.
  • Visit dealers and do the dealer PDI audit to find dealer PDI processing issues as needed.
  • Use advanced knowledge to benchmark competitive vehicle product related to port/field issues.
  • Coordinate / Communicate with Service Engineer/Model-line engineer to relay port quality issues and field quality issues.
  • Perform special double inspection and authorization to release on all Genesis.


Port processing Quality Assurance:

  • HMA liaison with GLOVIS and Port processor. Work directly with the GLOVIS Port Manager and Port Processing staff to ensure that operations are to HMA standards.
  • Accessory installation training and audits (as appropriate).
  • PIO defective inventory oversight/support.
  • Follow-up/Coaching to processor to improve port process and countermeasure processing issues found during product/process audits.
  • Joint Publishing (with GLOVIS) of Final Inspection Trend/Issues Report.
  • Port Warranty Trend Report Review and follow-up with Port Processor/GLOVIS.
  • Monitor Port Processor AQL for inspection and adjust as required.
  • Study Processor Operations report to understand overall process results including inventory levels, daily capacity, allocation rate and schedule, repair inventory, etc. to assess risk related to quality and to escalate/take action as required to mitigate risk.
  • Participate in Port Cross Audits (as needed).


New Model and Accessory Development:

  • Verify the Monroney sticker just right after wholesale release.
  • Participate in POD and POE audits, Ride and Drives, PIO audits, monitoring events, etc. (as needed)
  • Support HMA Parts and Accessory QA group in conducting PIO accessory tryout and instruction process confirmation.
  • Conduct initial Accessory Installation Audits.
  • Drive/Evaluate Monitor Vehicles when requested.
  • Assist with Distribution of Monitor/PR/other special purpose vehicles.

Technical Reporting & Projects:

  • Manage quality reports for internal and external presentations to management.
  • Runs weekly, monthly, and Ad Hoc reports through Alteryx programing software.
  • Generate daily and weekly summary reports submitted by all seaports.
  • Create summary reports and update HMC weekly IQS reports.
  • Time study at extreme environmental conditions to ensure quality of body cover protection.
  • Assist Port QA with input of Glovis daily processing data and generation of bi-weekly reports.
  • Generate weekly and monthly port campaign completion status report.
  • Creates ROI and ITPF studies for Business Dev planning projects.
  • Modify existing Alteryx formulas per request of customers.
  • Evaluate Dealer issues daily to find trends and classify the severity based on HMA quality rating.
  • Perform time sensitive campaigns on vehicles at dealership lots, VPC’s and railyards.
  • Assist Engineers with QMF data queries and transporting vehicles to/from HATCI/NAQC.
