Summary
Regular Schedule: 28 hours per week.This position is supported by grant funding and will remain active as long as funds are available.
A vacancy exists in the Community Services, Caregivers Program, Department of Aging.
Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.

Examples of duties
The Baltimore County Department of Aging Caregivers Program supports and educates family caregivers of older adults and older adults with primary care of children under 18 and those 18-59 with disabilities. This position will primarily provide consultations to caregivers but also lead support groups and be a part of outreach in the community with table support.
Examples of Duties:
- Provides telephone consultation and completes intakes
- Provides assessment, information and referral in person and by telephone
- Writes letters based on the consultation, sends to caregiver and uploads them to Wellsky
- Helps with application for stipend process
- Co-facilitates Caregiver Resource Sessions virtually and in person
- Leads or co-leads monthly support group for caregivers
- Participates in special projects and new initiatives
- Records monthly client and outreach statistics
- Assists with the implementation of caregiver conferences and Expo
- Prepares and vends table at outreach events
Experience, Knowledge:
- Experience in interpreting and disseminating resource information.
- Knowledge of resources for older adults and/or individuals with disabilities.
- Experience working directly with the older adults and/or persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of caregiving whether personal or professional.
- Experience delivering presentations, in-person and on virtual platforms.
Skill, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Windows 10/11, MS Word, Excel
- Database management
- Experience with meeting platforms; Webex, Zoom or Teams
- Email and Internet-search proficiency
- Laptop: knowledge of set up, trouble shooting and usage of equipment
- Communication skills: polite customer service over the phone and in person
- Writing Skills: creating business letters, writing brief articles, documenting client contact
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of available resources for older adults and caregiving families
- Ability to provide presentations on a virtual platform
- Effective presentation skills to large groups
- Ability to work an occasional Saturday and some evenings

Qualifications
Required QualificationsGraduation from an accredited college or university with an associate in arts (AA) degree in Communications Studies, Social Science, Gerontology, Behavioral Science, Human Services or related field.
