The agency, through its programs and services, encourages the inclusion of people with disabilities into the mainstream of society, including social, recreational, family and work activities.


The Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) Employment Counselor will be responsible for teaching high school students pre-employment skills (one-on-one and in a classroom type setting) and to ultimately obtain an internship in a competitive integrated setting in the community. This position requires an employee to be on the road as a primary function. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. This role will cover the Plymouth County, Massachusetts area and will cover up to 60 mile radius. Bilingual fluent required: Cape Verdean Creole or Spanish


To succeed in this role you will have good time management skills, good writing skills, strong organizational skills and prior Human Services experience, 1-2 years' experience working with youth with disabilities preferred. A 2-4 year degree in Human Services, Psychology or related field preferred, but experience may substitute for education. All candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age, have held a valid US Driver's License and willingness to flex daily schedule and use personal vehicle


Essential Functions

• Supporting youth through the Pre-Employment Transition Services through Workforce innovation & Act Opportunity.
• Entering consumer into virtual platform and training new staff on the platform.
• Assist processing Pre-ETS referrals from school districts and submitting documentation to MRC.
• Assist connecting and coordinating informational meetings with schools and community partners throughout Massachusetts to market the Pre-ETS Program.
• Maintaining open communication with school professionals, Community Partners, MRC staff, and Employment Services Program Manager.
• Contacting Pre-ETS families to provide information about the program and assist with setting up services.
• Maintaining a caseload of Pre-ETS consumers and facilitating Pre-ETS groups in school settings.
• Teach and run workshops which include resume writing/cover letters, how to properly fill out job applications, interview preparations, interview techniques, career research, career planning and work place behaviors.
• Assist high school students to obtain internships according to the Service Plan.
• Support consumer in the method that is appropriate and least intrusive
• Produce outcome of success in order to maximize Tempus Unlimited annual contract and build upon the services.
• Assist to develop a community network of businesses to access on site assessment, and work base learning opportunities
• Documenting all consumer, school, and family interactions in the Zuke database.
• Must report all suspected incidents of consumer sexual/physical abuse and neglect to the Disabled Person Protection Commission (DPPC).
• All other duties assigned by the Employment Services Manager.

• Experience developing and writing lessons plan, vocational assessments, career planning, job placement and job coaching follow along services.
