Job Description

The Technical Design (TD) Assistant assists the tech design team with measuring samples, preparing for fit sessions, taking notes in fit sessions, and organizing sample tracking.  The TD Assistant will gain hands on experience by providing support to the TD team through participation in fit sessions, assisting with fit comments and working in a highly creative, fast-paced environment.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Preparing garments for fit sessions (checking in samples on tracker, measuring samples, entering specs in Excel, pull previous stage sample(s), typing up fit notes) 
  • Create spec discrepancy photos for any POM’s that are out of tolerance while measuring samples 
  • Check samples against tech pack and previous stage samples for any construction discrepancy 
• Attends fittings and assist during fitting (take notes, take pictures, assist pinning or opening garments to look at construction) 
• Assist with comments after fitting (upload photos to the drive, insert photos in fit comments, track fitting date and attendants, add fit notes into tech pack) 
• Manage seasonal proto trackers.  
• Manage weekly fit list 
• Assist in organization of seasonal samples  
• Competitor research (measure and photograph samples) 
• Assist in maintenance of all specs and grades from initial set up through production (proto’s, PPs, Size Sets, TOPs) in Excel  
• Works with TD team to improve fit and quality through review of customers comments, sales feedback, and understanding of competition. 
• Compile product related details for catalog / website 

Qualifications

•  
• Degree in tech design, patternmaking, or related field and/or equivalent work experience. 
• Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with cross functional teams (design, development and production) 
• Must have excellent communication and organizational skills 
• Must be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently 
• Must be able to work proficiently in Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Illustrator 
• Experience communicating with vendors overseas is a plus 
• Understanding of garment construction, spec sheets and grades  
• Must be able to stand for long amounts of time and lift at least ten pounds
