Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opening for a Patient Access Representative to join our Galveston, Texas team.

Job Overview

The Patient Access Representative is the first person that our patients and caregivers will have the opportunity to interact.  This position provides support to our patients as they are experiencing a life changing event.  The support is accomplished by working with the caregiver to schedule appointments, perform pre-registration and registration of new and existing patients, and providing patients with information regarding access to additional external financial resources.  In this position, you will have the opportunity to support our patients with issues dealing with scheduling and questions for the provider(s).  In addition, you will maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory agencies by obtaining various consents.

 

**hours for this position will be 8-4:30 p.m., along with a rotation to attend Wednesday clinic in the Houston Medical Center.

Responsibilities

  • Process appointment requests for all types of outpatient appointments for new and established patients
  • Complete pre-registrattion to verify patient demographics are correct.
  • Obtains patient consents as required
  • Completes verification of insurance prior to patient arrival for services
  • Identifies uninsured patients to perform financial counseling.  Provides counseling in order to optimize access to appropriate external sources

Qualifications

Education

High School diploma required

 

Experience

Bilingual (English/Spanish) required

1 year experience in scheduling and registration preferred
