Finance Intern: Accounting & Treasury

About the Role:

Sezzle’s Finance department, located in Minneapolis, MN is offering a paid internship that will provide a student with relevant skills in a variety of accounting and treasury functions via on-the-job training. The ideal candidate will have completed at least an intermediate accounting and introductory economics course and will have an interest in gaining exposure to the treasury and accounting facets of the entity’s business. The candidate will also be task-oriented, able to prioritize projects based on team needs and able to work independently while maintaining a direct line to their manager, as most workdays will be remote, with a requirement to come into the office in Minneapolis one day per week with the Finance team.

Key Role Responsibilities:

• Assistance with general month-end closing procedures ensuring the adherence with US GAAP
• Exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) internal controls over financial reporting testing
• Assistance with executing on Sezzle’s account payable process, including detailed analysis over vendor profiles
• Reconciling general ledger accounts including monitoring of cash accounts
• Assist with Treasury’s daily cash position report
• Complete settlement report with Sezzle’s Financiers
• Evaluate and track key financials metrics from Sezzle’s banking partners
• Support the overall Finance function with ad-hoc projects, as needed

Ideal Skills and Experiences:

• Must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited local University, with a major in Accounting or Finance. Junior or Senior preferred, with a current GPA of 3.0 or above
• Completed or enrolled in Intermediate Accounting I (or equivalent first upper-division accounting class)
• Strong technical and organizational skills in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills, in a professional environment
• A high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality
• Avid problem-solver and self-starter
• Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)

Time Commitment:

• Hours of operation are 8:30 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday
• Must be available to work no less 25 hours per week during the summer and 15 hours per week during the academic school year
