Akron General’s 7100 Unit is a high acuity cardiac Telemetry and Medical/Surgical Unit. This fast-paced team cares for patients who require extensive ADL assistance and complex medical attention. As a Patient Care Nursing Assistant, you play an integral role in ensuring patients continue receiving the best treatment possible. You will find a welcoming and hands-on environment where caregivers encourage education, mutual support, and teamwork. A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00PM – 11:30PM, including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Prepare units, patient rooms and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfer or emergencies. 

• Provide and document assigned care, such as bathing, changing/refreshing bed linens, dressing/undressing, feeding, etc.  

• Take and document the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight and height. 

• Perform treatment procedures, such as venous blood draws, enemas, ice and heat pack application, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, oxygen equipment set up, overhead trapeze and Buck’s traction set up and removal of urinary Foley Catheters.  

• Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner. 

• Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge. <
