Specific Accountabilities:

This position is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all maintenance work in a PSM covered chemical plant. Receives and reviews orders for completeness, validity of the priority, clarity and accuracy of information. Provides estimates for maintenance jobs including sequence of steps, number of mechanics, task-hours and materials required. Provides first level hourly supervision of maintenance mechanics as needed to assure safe and efficient work.

• Plan, prioritize and schedule maintenance work orders including material needs, job instructions, appropriate maintenance history and critical information to complete jobs safely and efficiently.

• Manage the maintenance work order backlog (safety, environmental, mechanical integrity, routine, project, shutdown, PM, PD, OSHA and ISO calibrations).

• Effectively plan maintenance jobs to ensure that all necessary materials and resources are available as needed.

• Maintain department safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Work with Production and Maintenance Supervision to prioritize and schedule maintenance work.

• Fieldwork is required to ensure the quality of maintenance work.

• Provide mechanical, electrical and systems support for technicians.

• Leadership role for maintenance planned shutdowns including critical path charts.

• Provide support for maintenance emergency unplanned work orders.

• Provide on-call and after-hours coverage of all plant maintenance operations as needed.

• Ensure that maintenance work is carried out at a minimum cost in labor, materials and lost production.

• Determine use of outside contractors versus internal resources and coordinate outside contractor activities.

• Administer requisitions and service entries in SAP.

• Maintain plant master data for equipment, functional locations, preventative maintenance schedules, spare part requests, and bill of materials in SAP and ensure that all data is accurate and up to date.

• Establish and maintain work procedure requirements for planned maintenance tasks. Assist in development and improvement of plant maintenance procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Required Education

• High School Diploma is required.

• Bachelor of Science or Technology Degree (ABET accredited) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred.

• Three years' experience in maintenance or engineering in an industrial facility, OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience is preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of industrial equipment and components such as pumps, motors, mechanical conveying systems, power transmission systems, refrigeration systems, compressors, piping systems, PLC's, instrumentation, etc.

• Strong computer skills; prefer SAP, Microsoft applications and CMMS systems.

• Strong administrative and organization skills.

• Excellent leadership, management, problem solving and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication skills - interpersonal, written, verbal and collaboration.

• Familiarity with labor relations and operating in a union environment.
