Responsibilities

Program Overview

 

Youth Villages’ Residential Treatment programs serve children with emotional and behavioral problems.  Our residential campuses provide the setting for an intensive treatment program that combines the unique balance of structure and freedom. This enables children and their families to identify, understand and cope with their individual needs and develop the skills necessary to succeed in less restrictive settings.  We have three different types of facilities—Intensive Residential Centers, Open Campuses, and Group Homes.  Located in Tennessee and Georgia, all of these facilities utilize the Re-Education of Emotionally Disturbed Children therapy model (Re-Ed). 

 

Position Overview

 

Assist Program Manager to manage teacher/counselors who supervise youth in the residential settting.

Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this group. 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Additional Information

 

The supervision and treatment of youth requires prolonged periods of walking and standing and physical agility. May be required to run and climb flights of stairs. Must be able to participate in physical interventions with youth when necessary. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Will be required to complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR training. Applicants are required to pass an agility and strength evaluation. Applicants must have valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Counsels and provides therapeutic services to youth in assigned program
  • Monitors with Nursing services the administration and documentation of medication (in the appropriate setting)
  • Intervenes in crisis situations when appropriate
  • Monitors therapy, planning, goal evaluation, treatment planning, problem solving groups, and setting expectations
  • Maintains and implements both RE-ED and CPS philosophies
  • Ensures onboarding, training, and development with assigned staff members, documenting all activities in a timely and accurate manner
  • Develops, promotes and implements assigned program Coordinates the trip planning activities of each group.
  • Provides general leadership at team meetings
  • Supervises the implementation of an active and therapeutic youth schedule
  • Ensures daily inspections of cottage for cleanliness, safety and maintenance by designated staff with results provided to the Director of Residential Services as Works with Maintenance Supervisor to ensure maintenance needs of groups are met

Requirements

 

Bachelor's Degree plus six months experience in a behavioral health or social service setting required.

Must have 6 months experience at Youth Villages

 

Physical Demands

Frequently remains in stationary position for periods of time.

Regularly needs to move throughout office to access file cabinets and office machinery.

Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machines, and printer.

Frequently moves, ascend/descend, and traverse.

Constantly must be able to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, and exchange information Frequently needs to be able to recognize, judge, and observe in regards to safety of surroundings.
