Hatch is currently seeking Mechanical/Piping Interns to join our Mechanical team in Pittsburgh, PA. The position will allow candidates to be involved in all aspects of equipment specification, evaluation, selection, purchase, and information analysis & distribution. Interns will be assigned to work closely with experienced engineers who will provide guidance and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing engineering calculations such as hydraulic modeling, stress analysis, equipment sizing and tank and ensuring that all analyses satisfy user and system requirements
- Prepare technical specifications based on input received
- Prepare data sheets based on input received
- Prepare and/or review project standard specifications and design criteria
- Prepare or provide input to 2D mechanical drawings
- Prepare and update engineering lists
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in and pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams
- Commitment to achieving engineering excellence
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to various practical problems
- A desire to learn and continually develop
- Strong personal commitment to safety
- Previous Co-op or Summer Student experience an asset

- Perform assignments related to your sector
- Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects
- Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
- Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
- Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed
