What the Role Is
Babylist is looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant to join our accounting team. As the Senior Revenue Accountant, you will play a crucial role in analyzing contracts and recording multi-channel revenue transactions. You will assist with maintaining accounting schedules related to custom media and advertising sales. You will also collaborate cross-functionally with the Partnerships and Accounting/Finance teams, ensuring appropriate stakeholders have the information they need in regards to advertising agreements. You will be responsible for participating in the month end close process, working with internal business partners, and reviewing the balance sheet/P&L and providing commentary.
Who You Are
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required. CPA is preferred
- You should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in general and/or revenue accounting. Must be familiar with analyzing contracts under ASC606 and revenue recognition principles (identifying performance deliverables and recognizing revenue accordingly)
- Proficiency in GAAP revenue recognition accounting principles and methods is vital
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, conduct variance analysis, and make data-driven decisions
- Precision and a keen eye for detail are necessary to maintain accurate financial records
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial data effectively
- A proactive problem-solving attitude to address discrepancies and improve processes

How You Will Make an Impact
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the Sales, Finance and Accounting teams, ensuring appropriate dissemination of information
- Research and document complex revenue recognition matters. Review new revenue agreements and establish appropriate revenue recognition accounting policy alongside Accounting Manager
- Prepare and update supporting schedules, 606 calculations, and record media (and other) revenue journal entries as part of the accounting month-end close process.
- Reconcile general ledger balances for media revenue related accounts.
- Prepare schedules and respond to inquiries received from auditors as part of the year-end financial statement audit.
- Work with Accounting Manager and partners in sales to develop processes and policies for various types of media contract arrangements.
- Support process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of revenue recognition.
- Perform balance sheet and P&L flux analysis for media, affiliate and other revenue accounts
- Support accounting team and assist with ad hoc projects on an as needed basis
