Job Description
Purpose
The Senior Electrical Engineer will apply engineering knowledge and provide support to the Facilities & Utilities team in our North Chicago site. This role will also assist with overseeing global projects and provide technical direction on electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Review the design of electrical power system infrastructure, equipment, back-up power and provide guidance to comply with the AbbVie Standards and Specifications, applicable international code compliance and best practice. Generate and/or update standards for Electrical Systems for the Global Engineering Assurance Team.
- Remain knowledgeable on the latest regulatory guidance and industry best practices for electrical power systems including but not limited to: skidded equipment, electrical infrastructure, backup power systems, lighting systems.
- Provide technical direction on global capital projects through all phases of project execution from conceptual engineering to detailed engineering to installation and commissioning including but not limited to detailed system description narratives, one-line diagrams, Arc Flash, Short Circuit and Coordination studies.
- Provide technical direction to equipment suppliers on equipment selection based on project requirements.
- Lead factory acceptance tests and/or site acceptance tests for equipment.
- Develop and present continuing education topics internally.
- Troubleshoot power distribution systems and support commissioning activities.
