This Position:

Reporting to the Strategic Operations and Solutions Architect, the temporary Studio Administrative Assistant supports the Distance Education Technologies team at Johnson. The Distance Education Technologies Team provides uninterrupted, real-time, mission-critical operations to remote videoconference learning centers for the Cornell Executive MBA Americas. This position will work in the videoconferencing broadcast studio to administratively support the Strategic Operations and Solutions Architect, faculty, and Executive MBA Americas students during classes.

The temporary Studio Administrative Assistant primarily works on weekend broadcast days. Working hours for this position consist of: :

  • Saturday:  8 am to 7 pm
  • Sunday: 8 am to 2 pm

Class Schedule:

  • Between November and June – Classes are held every other weekend
  • Between July and October – Classes are held every weekend

Please note, hours are subject to change based upon the needs of the Strategic Operations and Solutions Architect.

Reliability is essential, and this position plays a critical role in the success and delivery of the program.

Key responsibilities of this position consist of:

Supporting faculty (45%):

Provide administrative support to faculty on class days:

  • Before Class:
    • Check with faculty to see if anything needs to be posted to the Program Learning Management System (LMS); software is called Canvas. Respond to and support special requests during class.
    • Review any information with the faculty related to guest speakers, presentations, assignments, absences, and/or class visitors.
    • Verify:
      • Documentation with the list of student teams is setup beside the teaching monitor for faculty.
      • Ensure slides on main computer are setup; confirm the material is for the correction session and the PowerPoint is advancing properly.
      • Ensure there is blue paper and appropriate pens for document camera.
      • Set-up and teardown remote videoconferencing learning center in building.
  • During Class:
    • Track student attendance and participation as requested by faculty. Display bio information for faculty anytime a student speaks.

  • After Class
    • Confirm with professor if there are learning materials which need to be emailed, scanned or uploaded to the LMS.
    • Make sure all studio documents are filled out, scanned or uploaded to LMS and sent to the appropriate groups/server.

  • Other duties or special projects as required.

Broadcast Studio Assistance (25%):

Provide administrative support to studio operations team on class days.

  • Perform on camera roll-call to all remote videoconferencing learning centers before class to ensure all sites are operational and there are no technical problems to report.
